PART TWO: "The Gang Wars" (a brief overview)

This second part of the "Human Dinosaurs" book series is called "The Gang Wars" and takes place in the days following "The Tales of Mitch".  The story begins with "The Birth of Rex" as the main character awakens in a hospital having almost died in the last attack by the Wolf gang.  Now having brain damage, Mitch's personality is altered and now refers to himself as "The Rex".  Rex promptly declares war on the Wolf gang and begins gathering followers to a new gang who's only goal is to destroy Duce and his elite band of assassins.  This gang is later called "The Gold Eagle" and now stands poised to enter "The Gang Wars" against Duce and his Wolf gang.

The majority of the story takes place during a violent period later known as "The Gang Wars" during the years 1987-1989.  The main characters are between the ages of 15-17 and have suffered greatly since the last brutal attack of the Wolf gang in "The Tales of Mitch", leaving one dead and three seriously wounded.  Beginning with Rex's faithful servant Cassie, Rex begins to build a new gang of elite warriors united under the banner of his "Mind's Eye"; striking out at the Wolf gang and driving fear into the heart of their leader Duce.  As the power of The Gold Eagle grows, the Wolf gang is for the first time put on the defensive as "The Gang Wars" begin to spiral out of control.  The story then continues after Rex has consolidated his power by training his new soldiers for battle and succeeding in bugging Duce's fortress known as "The Wolf's Lair".  With the knowledge of the Wolf gang's every move now at his finger tips, Rex plans new attacks and carries them out ruthlessly.  Although the odds are still stacked against them, being outnumbered and outgunned, Rex leads The Gold Eagle through a bloodbath of insanity in an attempt to end "The Gang Wars" and destroy the Wolf gang once and for all.  The story then comes full circle as Rex finishes his recollections (that were started in "The Tales of Mitch") and prepares for the final battle with Duce.  Along the way Rex encounters many problems, including the entry of a third gang into The Gang Wars known as the "Blood Dragons".  This unseen event not only threatens to ruin Rex's plans but also threatens to destroy him as well.  With his insanity growing and his bloodlust blinding him, Rex prepares for the final battle with Duce gambling on a fragile alliance to save The Gold Eagle from doom.
