PART ONE: "The Tales of Mitch" (a brief overview)
The book series "Human Dinosaurs"
(parts 1-2) is historical fiction based in the years 1984-1989 and covers
the life and times of the characters that live in a small town located
in southern Louisiana. Although this book is a fictional story, many
aspects and events are based upon real life experiences. The first
part of this series is called "The Tales of Mitch" and cover some of the
recollections of the main character "Rex" and his experiences as the boy
named "Mitch Lord". The story starts off in the middle of a gang
battle where the Chronicler of the story is targeted for "extermination"
by the most powerful gang in town known as the "Wolf gang". The Chronicler
is then rescued and practically taken prisoner by a rival gang who later
reveals themselves to be the reclusive and secretive group known as "The
Gold Eagle". The leader of this group then decides to befriend the
Chronicler and tells his tales of the history that led them up to this
point in their dark destiny. This becomes "The Tales of Mitch" and
tells of the adventures and tragedy which forged this little group into
a band of elite Avengers. They alone can stand up to the tyranny
of the Wolf gang, but only time can tell whether or not they can ultimately
win against the numerically superior and fully armed enemy.
The majority of the story takes
place while the main characters are attending Edwards Junior High school
and the main characters are between the ages of 12-17. Beginning
with Mitch's first eventful birthday, the history begins to unfold starting
in the "break dancing" years of 1984-1985. Mitch meets many interesting
people along the way eventually having confrontations with the leader of
the Wolf gang, know as "Duce". As Mitch's friends are killed off
one by one by the Wolf gang in the years 1986-1987, a brutal attack planned
by Duce is carried out which eventually turns Mitch into his alter ego
known as "Rex". The story then continues in the second part of the
Human Dinosaurs series called "The Gang Wars".
